This week my bestie in the whole wide world has agreed to be a guest blogger! She is going to do a week of outfit posts for you all. She is a beautiful, fun & super smart mom,
mad scientist & professor with great personal style. I’m super excited to see what she shares! Yayyy!
Another Kardashian inspiration! I mean, how can you resist those curve-loving sisters?
I was invited to talk at a research symposium and wanted a professional but feminine/pretty outfit. I decided that Kim’s cleavage cutout wasn’t appropriate for an academic setting (ditto to her snakeskin heels) and paired my pencil skirt with a neutral color-blocked top from H&M.
Since I moved from Florida to a colder climate this past year, I’ve discovered a love of wearing opaque tights. Maroon, dark green, black, brown, gray… I wear them all, almost every day. They look lovely with patterned or solid dresses, as well as flats and heels (my two daughters are also obsessed with tights and heels and wear them daily). I have a variety of brands, but my favorite are the extremely affordable and durable tights from Forever XXI. I’ve probably worn this pair 15 times and they just got their first little tear when I snagged my ring on the tights when I put them on. I hand wash them and hang them to dry, and they last a long time!
Although you can’t really tell in the above image, my black heels are patterned black lace, so perfect for this green lace pencil skirt.
