Inspiration – Queen Letizia
This week I am attending a conference for work. In past years the conference included everyone in my functional area in North America – all 3500 of us. While I find being “on” for very corporate things for days on end very exhausting, it’s the one time a year I get to see the people I work with remotely on a daily basis that are scattered all over the country. It’s always a really good time to see friendly faces, commiserate about projects and have a few laughs. And then for rest of year you can call in favors to those people because they feel extra friendly towards you.
But this year, due to budget, efficiency, yadda yadda lots of corporate words here, the conference will only be a certain level job title and above. So now I’m headed into a big pile of bosses for three days and my introverted brain is not pleased with this new development. I have about three funny/interesting/relevant anecdotes to share and that’s about it. One good dinner with higher-ups would be more than sufficient face time. But now it’s three days of a lot of small talk standing around with software executives in navy blue suits all without my “team.” Sigh.
At least I can pull out some of my “business casual” outfits that are borderline “business formal” for this three day boss chatting extravaganza. Haven’t packed yet (will take hotel/bathroom photos and share next week) but snapped this picture while I was trying things on as a good option.
Few previous years conference outfits:
- Navy jacket & navy pants (2017 – Salt Lake City)
- Sheath dress & navy blazer (2016 – San Antonio)
- Full skirt & cardigan (2016 – San Antonio)
- Fringe trim cardigan & navy pants (2016 – San Antonio)
- Navy two-button wool jacket – Banana Republic
- White camisole – Nordstrom
