Inspiration – Joie
Hello strangers! Things got a little crazy around these parts for awhile – life, family, work, holidays, yadda yadda. And I ended up taking an unexpected blogging break. Good news is they only look like they are going to get nuttier from here! Woo-hoo! ๐
I just started a new ginormous client project at work. It has really high executive visibility, biggest budget I’ve ever had to manage, dozens and dozens of people I will be responsible for tracking, incredibly complex software implementation and integration between giant systems that will affect hundreds of thousands of end users and there will be tons and tons and tons of travel onsite to their Dallas HQ between now and 2018 to get this all done. Ohh boy. Excited & nervous at the same time. It’s going to be a ton of work but a chance for big recognition if I’m successful!
One of the reasons I’m excited is I’ll be able to scope out all the fun work outfits at a big corporate HQ while I’m onsite this year. While I really like my small Florida office with all the energy the that tech start ups bring – college students and start ups are not known for strong business casual dressing – and I’ve been missing the inspiration of all the fun fashion I used to see walking to work when I was living in DC. So going forward – I hope you like hotel room/office bathroom pix!
For my first onsite visit to their Dallas HQ I wore one of my tried and true go-to business casual outfits. (Worn for previous work trips to pharmaceutical company in Ohio here and software company in Germany here.) Warm, comfortable and classic – will probably remain a favorite for years and years.
Here’s what I wrote about it the first time I wore it in Germany: “Over the two weeks I was in Germany I noticed that lots of the guys I worked with (important bosses and regular consultant types alike) would wear plaid shirts, layered sweaters and work pants as a basic daily uniform. They looked professional, comfortable and stylish. Iโm always one to jump into things guys are up to if it suits my needs โ so I put together this outfit to mimic the โboys clubโ look. Added a fun pink color check and a pretty necklace to girly it up a little bit.”

Missed your posts during your break but glad that you’re back and doing exciting things. May I comment on your statement:
“chance for big recognition if Iโm successful!” to Chance for big recognition WHEN I’m successful No ifs.
Good point on the phrasing! Thanks! ๐
