Inspiration – Nordstrom BP Cardigan
This is an outfit that I pretty much lived in during holiday break. It’s an easy basic base of jeans and white t-shirt with a slightly pulled together feel by adding a cardigan and cute shoes. Also, this shirt is from Madewell and it my favoritist t-shirt in the whole wide world. After buying one six months ago – I’ve been slowly collecting them and now have like eight in various colors. I used to wear a rotation of Old Navy/Target t-shirts but they always stretched out/wore out so quickly. I love this shirt. so. much.
In other less fun news – most of the weight I was so proud to lose in 2016 crept back during the hurricane of travel & stress that was 2017. I know myself and I make unhealthy food choices when I’m tired. I eat junk when I’m stressed. I faceplant in delicious goodness when I travel. And all of those things happened in abundance last year. Now the scale numbers are back up. Which in turn means I’m limited to a small number of my ‘fat day’ work pants. So disappointing.
That means it’s time to jump on the new years resolution bandwagon, re-read my own advice about how I lost baby-weight, start piling those veggies on my plate and getting my butt in motion to counteract the bazillion hours I spend at my desk job. Would my progress & tracking be something of interest to any of you out there?

I’m always interested in tracking! We are all fighting the same fight and it’s inspiring!
Yes we are! Thanks!
I am so happy to see that you are back! While I completely understood the need for a break due to βreal life,β I missed the blog. I would love to follow along on your healthy life mission! I think everyone can use some additional advice and/or support during weight loss, so I hope we can provide you that.
Thank you! Peer pressure for the win! π
I love this outfit. Super simple yet so stylish and chic. I would
Be interested in you tracking your progress! Good luck!
Thank you!
I’m a heel type of girl but I would wear these shoes; super cute. I love your blog because it feels real, so it would be fun following you in this journey too. Good luck!
Thank you!
I would be interested in following your tracking. Love the outfit!
Awesome. Thank you!
Agree with Lizzie!
Yay!
I can relate to the unhealthy choices when tired or traveling for work. I’d be interested in your journey. Also, this is my first time leaving a comment. I love that your outfits are cute, but practical and affordable.
Thank you so much!
I too have recently discovered the Madewell tee and have been slowly replacing the “others” in my closet.
It is so nice to see you back! Your outfit posts are some of my favorites. π
Thank you! Good luck on your Madewell collection! π
I’m so happy you are back! I get a lot of inspiration from your outfits. I really like this one! I have also gained weight in the past year due to work and it’s frustrating when your pants don’t fit or are too tight. I like hearing about your progress.
So frustrating!
Yes would definitely be interested in your tracking. Iβm in the same boat, with an almost 3 year old, desk job and no time for exercise. My husband and I have started the Daniel plan and are in day 5. Itβs been hard!
Good luck! You can do it!
How see-through (or not) is the t-shirt? I have been on the hunt for a great white T that I don’t have to wear a cami underneath! And those shoes are super fab!
I feel okay wearing it without a cami but the white is definitely is slightly see-through. I think you might want to find something thicker then then ‘whisper’ cotton for your shirt. :/
Glad to see you are back and hopefully 2018 will bring you more work/life balance and less travel. I would love to see fitness and health posts, especially since you are a working mother and very relatable!
I normally work from home but go into the office and attend offsites at various times throughout the year. Three days ago I found myself at Banana exchanging a pair of Ryan fit pants for one size bigger. :(. I bought them a few months ago for a day in the office but did not end of wearing them so they still had the tags. It was so disappointing but I knew I could not squeeze into them and sit all day at an offsite this week. I feel your pain with a limited wardrobe but I am counting WW points trying to get back into my groove.
We can do it!!
We can do it!!!!!
Oh my goodness, I can relate to the hurricane stress! I don’t know if I can blame any weight gain on my part from it though! π I live down in Venice and we had just closed on our brand new house 2 weeks before stupid Irma! We finally decided to evacuate Friday morning early when we heart “Cat 5 west coast”… yeahhh… that’s a nope for me lol! We went to Georgia Friday – Tuesday and took us 15 hours to get home! I’m sure you could share a similar just-as-stressful story — and I’m pretty sure I have PTSD from that whole event LOL! Anyway, just had to share that…. I totally get the hurricane stress! ha! Would love to read your weight loss adventure and tips and tricks. π
LOL – I phrased that poorly – I did eat a lot during the hurricane but I just meant my year was a hurricane/whirlwind of activity! I’m glad you & yours were safe during the hurricane – it was a really stressful time!!
I am also a Florida resident who put on weight during Irma and just never kicked it! Hurricane weight is a thing! I would definitely be interested in your tracking. I’m the same way. Try to be healthy until stress, lack of sleep, and life catch up with me and I end up yoyo-ing around in my weight. I’m back on track now and would love to have some inspiration to stay on track!
LOL – I did eat a lot during the hurricane but I just meant my year was a hurricane/whirlwind of activity! Good luck being back on track!! We all need it! π
Wish you could let go of self image needing to be that of a young single and move to a healthy middle age mom comfortable to just be you! You look fantastic right now and donβt need to lose weight to fit in old clothes…donβt look at the size just buy some thing new that flatters you now!I love your style and have since long before the wedding, and beautiful baby! YOU ROCK JUST AS YOU ARE!!!
Thanks for the words of encouragement! I appreciate your sentiment. I’m not worried about losing weight to keep up with anyone. I just want to get back to my ‘normal’ size that I’ve been for past 15 years. I think it would be wasteful to get rid of an entire closet of clothes when I could just eat a little more broccoli and get some exercise and then wear them again in a month or so… π
Yes please to weight loss tracking! I lost all my baby weight by Sept 2017 (after 18 months) and was feeling great. However, holidays etc. have me gaining some weight and feeling blah. Support and inspiration is always helpful. I am trying to be more mindful on my eating habits as that is what really makes the difference for me.
I have a couple pairs of jeans that are a little tight, so I’m with you. Count me in! No need to explain to anyone why you want to lose weight.
I would love it! I’m pregnant again and will soon need a refresher/motivation on losing weight.
I’m happy you are back too! I’d be interested in tracking the health and weight loss stuff, and any tips/recipes/etc you’d want to share. It’d be nice to hear it from someone who has a job away from the home all day and how you manage that.
